President's Update

Aloha, neighbors! Welcome to the first issue of our community newsletter, delivered through the new Maui Lani community website. Over the past few months your board has been building a single place for everything: dues, design review, documents, meeting minutes, and now this newsletter. If you have not signed up yet, visit the website and create your account; approval usually takes a day or two. Mahalo to the volunteers who tested the site and shared feedback all summer. We are just getting started, and we would love to hear what you want to see next.

Key News and Announcements

The community website is live! You can now pay dues online, submit design review applications, browse governing documents, and read board meeting minutes from any device. Also this month: the annual member meeting is planned for late October, watch for the official notice and your proxy form. The reserve study update is underway and the board expects draft results before the end of the year.

Landscape Committee

Summer heat has been hard on the parkway medians, so the committee has adjusted irrigation schedules and begun replanting the worst stretches with drought-tolerant natives. Tree trimming along the main entrances is scheduled ahead of storm season. If you spot a broken sprinkler or a brown patch on common ground, please report it through the website so the committee can route it to the landscapers with a photo.

Design Committee

Planning to repaint, refence, or add solar? Design review approval comes first, and the new website walks you through exactly what to submit. The three most common questions this month: fence materials (four-foot black aluminum near the golf course), exterior colors (muted earth tones from the approved palette), and photovoltaic panel placement. Most complete applications are reviewed within twenty business days.

Governance Committee

The committee is continuing its review of the association's governing documents to keep them aligned with current Hawaii law. Coming soon: in-app proxy filing and voting through the community website, so making quorum no longer depends on paper forms. If you are interested in serving, the committee has room for two more volunteers; reach out through the office.

Site Manager's Update

Park equipment inspections were completed this month and two shade sails at the community park were replaced. Please remember that the refuse company observes the Labor Day holiday, so pickup shifts one day that week. Roving patrol reports remain quiet; keep garage doors closed in the evenings.

Friendly Reminders

Hurricane season runs through November: now is a good time to check your emergency kit and trim loose branches. Please pick up after pets on the parkway paths, keep guest cars off the sidewalks, and remember quiet hours after ten. Questions?
